A favorite dairy-free milk substitute. We use it mainly in our coffee because it’s thick and creamy.
So very delicious and simple to make. The word on the street is that oat milk is more environmentally friendly than many other non-dairy options due to the fact that it uses significantly less water to grow. It’s also way less expensive than, for example, almond milk. So, there you go.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3 cups water
  • 3/4 tsp – 1 tbsp maple syrup to taste, optional
  • 1/4 tsp salt, optional
  • 1 tsp vanilla, optional

Directions:

  1. Combine oats and water in a high powered blender and let soak for 30 minutes.
  2. Blend on high for 1 minute.
  3. If you want a thinner consistency which I do, pour thru a nut milk bag strainer (preferred) or cheese cloth. The resulting strained residue is very slimy and there isn’t much – but it’s worth straining it in my opinion. Otherwise the milk is just a little gritty feeling.
  4. Funnel into your glass bottle, add the other ingredients and gently shake it up.

Couldn’t be easier. Creamy and great to use for coffee or any milk substitute.
